Nintendo’s lineup of upcoming eShop releases is here for this week, and there’s a lot to choose from, with plenty of titles across the 3DS and Wii U, as well as a new DSi app, among tempting Zelda discounts and other virtual console treats.

Wii U eShop

  • Cubemen 2 (Nnooo, €7.99 / £6.99) – a real-time action strategy game that plays across platforms in an online multiplayer extravaganza. You can create and share your own levels or enjoy those uploaded by players from a number of platforms. A promising premise on a popular game.

Wii U Virtual Console

  • Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse (Konami, €4.99 / £3.49) – the third and final NES entry of the vampiric series was released in 1992 (1990 in the US), and is one of the most highly regarded. A prequel, the game is set several centuries before the original Castlevania, with Simon Belmont’s ancestor Trevor C. Belmont taking on the undead in an action platformer with multiple paths and playable characters.
  • Gargoyle’s Quest II: The Demon Darkness (Capcom, €4.99 / £3.49) – part of the Ghosts ‘n Goblins franchise, and originally released for the NES in 1993, this is another prequel and features exploration of an overworld map with sidescrolling action sequences. This is the first appearance of this entry in a Western Virtual Console and is the US version of the game.

Wii U eShop — The Legend of Zelda Promotion
There is a series of discounts to celebrate the upcoming release of Hyrule Warriors, and if any Zelda title (download) is owned on a Nintendo Network account before its release there’ll be a 10% discount on the download version of the new game in its first week of release, priced €44.99 / £35.99 instead of €49.99 / £39.99.

  • The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD (Nintendo, €39.99 / £32.99 until 11th September, normally €59.99 / £49.99)

  • European Conqueror 3D (CIRCLE Entertainment, €3.99 / £2.99) – the latest Conqueror game on the 3DS eShop brings turn-based strategy to the Second World War, with plenty of content to work through.

3DS Virtual Console

  • Mega Man Xtreme (Capcom, €4.99 / £4.49) – originally released in 2001 on the Game Boy Color, this game exists in the same world as the first two Mega Man X games, though it received lukewarm reviews upon release due to some varying opinions on the game’s presentation, though it is a colorful and vibrant game.
