After rumors began to run rampant that Nintendo will be showing off some new hardware at E3, the Big N has put those rumors to rest.

Multiple sites, primarily IGN, MCV, and VideoGamer (currently down), have reported that there are rumblings that new hardware will be shown off by Nintendo during E3 this year.  These rumors were quickly shot down by Nintendo, again with multiple confirmations coming from the video game giant that there are new plans to show new hardware at E3.

Does this mean that there is no new hardware in the works at Nintendo? No, absolutely not and it is almost a certainty that there is.  Does this mean that they don’t plan on showing off any new hardware soon? Again no, Nintendo simply stated that there will be no new hardware shown at E3. Nintendo holds Directs on a fairly regular basis and we could still see new hardware, whether it be a hardware revision or something new all together, sooner rather than later.  If we are going by the 2014 predictions for Nintendo that were made by our very own Editor, James Higginbotham, we could see a 3DS ‘Lite’ announced sometime this year.

Even with Nintendo denying the plans to unveil new hardware, this could be a bluff.  Companies often deny rumors only to turn around and do exactly what they previously denied just to keep things on the down low.  Nintendo’s E3 presence and other rumors surrounding the contents of their presentation have surely created some hype for the event this year.  Nintendo is sure to have some surprises up their sleeves and we will just have to wait and see what they do at this year’s big event.
