SKYPEACE is a fast paced runner (flyer) recently released on the 3DS eShop.  In it you collect coins and treasures, avoid enemies, and try to accumulate high scores.  It’s straightforward fun, with a simple and polished presentation.  Even better, it sells for just 99 cents!  At that price, it’s hard to pass up.

Skypeace - title

Each stage is colorful and attractively presented, with different backgrounds and some cool visual effects.  Everything moves along smoothly and speedily.  You can choose between two different anime style characters to fly with.  The 3D effect looks very cool – you’ll definitely want it cranked up to the max while playing!  Catchy music complements the fun visuals. Listen to a sample of these great tunes in the trailer and hear for yourself.

Skypeace - gameplay 2There is structure in the game’s design.  There are individual stages with set layouts, rather than a random format.  Curiously there is no endless mode though, and that’s disappointing as far as replay value’s concerned.  However, both a grading system as well as achievements do compensate for this omission somewhat.

The replay value can extend even further if you desire to get an S grade for each stage – demanding near perfect runs, you’ll be playing for even longer.  Even though this is very difficult, the challenge doesn’t stem from the controls.  They take a minute or two to get used to, but are very responsive.

Skypeace - gameplayThis game won’t ever be among the 3DS eShop’s greatest hits, but it’s not aiming for that.  As far as budget titles go, it fares very well.  The lack of a theme, endless mode, and the short length (only 10 brief stages) means it can only go so far, but there are definitely more positives than negatives here.  This is a fun little runner, and ideal for gaming on the go.

So there you have it, a short review of SKYPEACE.  At just 99 cents, how much more do you need to know?  It may not have much in the way of standout features, but it’s quite the good game for what it is.  A quality budget release that’s enjoyable.  Well worth a download!
