PN Video: Skull Kid and Monster Hunter 3DS
In response to Justin Sharp’s unboxing video of the New 3DS Majora’s Mask limited edition console, which can be viewed here, Alex has countered with not one, but two limited edition items of his own to show off. All things considered, which limited edition New 3DS design do you like best? Want to tell Alex his Skull Kid figure is awesome and you’re jealous of him? Give us your feedback by leaving a comment!

If you look at the systems from a purely aesthetic standpoint, I think you’d have to give it the Monster Hunter N3DS. The brushed metal (fur?) look and tribal symbols are just plain cool whether you can identify them as Monster Hunter or not. To someone unfamiliar with Zelda, the Majora’s Mask system is..well…kind of weird looking. However to the initiated the decorations on these systems both symbolize two of the best games in the 3DS library. At the moment the Majora’s Mask N3DS has the edge because the game that it is based on is already a Nintendo icon. However, after hundreds (or indeed thousands in some cases) of hours, I expect the MH4U symbol to become just as iconic to the fans of the series. In the end I think it really just boils down to the series that evokes the most emotion for the player. In my case it was Monster Hunter and I don’t regret the choice for a second.
As a side note, I think it is ridiculous that the Monster Hunter N3DS came with the digital version of the game and yet did not qualify to get the free theme. I managed to get it by buying my friends code off of him, but it really should have been included. While it is not super impressive, it does tile the top screen with the same symbol from the front of the system (in blue no less).
