PR: Soundtracks of the Pokémon Fire Red and Pokémon Leaf Green video games launch today on iTunes
The Pokemon Company has released the second in a long line of Pokemon themed soundtracks. The first being back in November with Pokemon X & Pokemon Y: Super Music.
Originally set for a 2014 release, Pokémon FireRed & Pokémon LeafGreen: Super Music Collection “features beautifully adapted and orchestrated versions of the original in-game music, composed by Junichi Masuda, Gō Ichinose and Morikazu Aoki.”
[expand title=”Click for full press release”] The Pokémon Company International has today released the classic soundtracks from the Pokémon FireRed and Pokémon LeafGreen video games on iTunes.The Pokémon FireRed & Pokémon LeafGreen: Super Music Collection features beautifully adapted and orchestrated versions of the original in-game music, composed by Junichi Masuda, Gō Ichinose and Morikazu Aoki. The game originally launched in 2004, and the original soundtrack accompanied Pokémon Trainers on their journey across the Kanto region.
The release follows on the heels of the Pokémon X & Pokémon Y: Super Music Collection release which featured enhanced versions of the game’s soundtrack.
Fans can expect more to come in 2014 from the Pokémon musical archives, including the soundtracks of:
- Pokémon HeartGold and Pokémon SoulSilver
- Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire
- Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl
- Pokémon Black and Pokémon White
- Pokémon Black 2 and Pokémon White 2

That was pretty unexpected. It’s not that I dislike the soundtracks; I actually enjoy them, especially the vintage ones. It’s just that Nintendo is all into this iTunes thing now. I’m stocked to get some of the soundtracks next year, including the Black2/White2 and R/S, and possibly D/P. Next year is going to be a memorable one in gaming!
