Nintendo has always said that the Wii U does not play GameCube games. The below video shows a hacker’s proof on concept that the Wii U can in fact play GameCube games.

I would have enjoyed GC compatibility, but when Nintendo removed it late in the Wii’s life, I knew the Wii U wouldn’t have it. It’ll be an extra source of income though when (if?) Nintendo gets GC games available for download from the Wii U’s Virtual Console service.
I agree. First of all, I don’t get why Nintendo stopped allowing GC backwards compatability with the later offerings. I’m guessing id had something to do with the market. Anyway, I can see that a hacker can play GC games on a Wii U because, well, he/she’s a hacker!
Are you talking about with the newer Wii’s? Because im almost 100% positive the Wii has always been BC with GC games.I can see GC games coming to the Wii U eShop at some point or maybe all the best Gamecube games will get an HD re-release like the Wind Waker. Heres hoping for one of the two. And as far as the video goes this is probably fake, I could easily crop a video together like this. Only way it would be slightly believable is if they showed the tv and everything.
The Wii did have GC support until late in it’s life cycle … backward compatibility was removed in all Wii’s manufactured since the 3rd/4th quarters of 2011.
Oh see I didn’t know that.
This isn’t real, the title music isn’t the real music, it’s orcehstrated here.
