With the 2011 year coming to an end; It is time for us to take a look at our 2011 predictions and make our 2012 predictions. Going into this year Justin holds a slight lead over me with a 2-1 advantage. Last year I lost 3.5 to 3 on our predictions. Let us see how we did this year.

James Predictions 2011 predictions. 

  • PS3 Overtakes Wii in Sales – According numbers from November, the PS3 was leading the  Wii by around 30,000. According to my observations, the PS3 outsold the Wii during the Holiday. (YES)
  • Next generation of Nintendo homes system announced. Wii U (YES)
  • Zelda: Skyward Sword moved to fall 2011. (YES)
  • 3DS released in March. (YES)
  • Mario Kart 3DS released in the Fall. (YES)
  • Pikmin 3 comes out in during the summer. (NO)
  • Pure Nintendo gets mentioned in another game trailer. (No)
  • Blink 182 Rockband or Guitar hero. – What is Rockband or Guitar Hero? (No)
  • Vitality Sensor will not be seen. (YES)
  • Star Fox Wii announced. – again no (No)

Justin’s Predictions for 2011

 

  • Pikmin 3 finally shown in some form – Talked about but not shown. (No)
  • 3DS is top-selling handheld of 2011 – By our research, by a small number. (YES)
  • Nintendo finally talks about the Wii successor (YES)
  • New F-Zero game announced (No)
  • Wii Price Drop (YES)
  • Big first-party 3DS games to be announced at E3 – Mario Kart 3DS and Super Mario 3D Land (YES)
  • Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword release date pushed to late 2011/early 2012 (Yes)
  • Vitality sensor to be re-engineered for Wii successor (NO)
  • Super Smash Bros. 3DS announced – Talked about (YES)
  • New Metroid game announced (NO)

Looks like Justin has landed a six as well.

James 2012 Predictions

  •  Nintendo will re-introduce us to the Wii U at E3 2012. The Wii U will still have a few surprises for us.
  •  Nintendo will release the Wii U in the fall of 2012/early 2013.
  • The 3DS sales will continue to roll strong through 2012.
  •  Star Fox will be announced. Wii U or 3DS.
  •  New Super Smash Brothers will be shown off.
  •  3DS Pokemon game will be shown off and announced.
  •  Pikmin will finally see a release date/time frame.
  • Nintendo will talk new 3DS redesign.
  • Miyamoto will finally show off the game he has been working on.
  • New 3DS Zelda game shown off.

Justin 2012 predictions. 

  • Pikmin 3 will finally…finally be shown
  • New Metroid title announced at E3
  • Wii U release date will be just before the holidays, November 18, 2012, if Nintendo follows their past console launches
  • Donkey Kong Country Returns 2 announced
  • Trailer for new 3DS Zelda to be shown at GDC 2012
  •  3DS Lite to be announced at TGS 2012
  • Nintendo will announce a number of non-game apps for Wii U
  •  Wii U will support at least 2 Wii U tablets for multiplayer
  •  3DS/Wii U connectivity announced
  • Next Pokemon RPG announced for 3DS
