Admittedly, Nintendo’s E3 Digital Event was a disappointment. I’m not ashamed to say, like most fans, I was expecting something that would blow me away and make me cry with joy. That didn’t happen, but that doesn’t mean Nintendo has given-up on their fans. If we take this Digital Event in context with Nintendo’s bigger picture of digital presentations – it has been an exciting year for fans.

Nintendo is naturally a private company that keeps things close to the chest. Just four years ago Nintendo would appear at E3, “drop the bombs,” pop their collars, drop the mic and walk off stage. For the most part we would never hear from them again, maybe something small at GDC, maybe a little info at an investor’s meeting, but for the most part Nintendo stayed dormant while building up their next arsenal of announcements.

That has drastically changed since the advent of Nintendo Direct presentations that bring with them a constant flow of information. If we take this Digital Event and go back to just the April 1st Nintendo Direct, we will see a bigger picture of Nintendo’s announcements so far in 2015.

That’s a pretty exciting list that would leave any Nintendo fan quivering with excitement. If you take just the last two and a half months as a whole, it’s an exciting time to be a Nintendo fan. Nintendo has spoiled us with their big bomb announcements that we are now expecting way too much from them during E3. Nintendo is trying to change to become an open and transparent company. Instead of holding all announcements for a single hour and a half press conference, Nintendo has decided to share information throughout the whole year.

Nintendo isn’t done with us yet. I am sure we will get another Direct or two before 2015 ends. It’s an exciting time to be a Nintendo fan.
