Recently a fire broke out at an unnamed Wii U assembly plant in Japan.  Nintendo issued a statement to ComputerandVideoGames.com and it said “As of now, we see no impacts on our Wii U console production scheme.”  A hiccup in the production of the Wii U could spell big trouble for Nintendo, especially after the strong pre-order response they have received.  So the fact that Nintendo remains confident that this recent fire will not hamper their efforts, seems like some very good news.  I only hope that the Wii U is not entirely impossible to find during the holiday shopping season for those consumers who have not yet been able to pre-order a Wii U.
