Original post

We are just hours away from the Famitsu magazine hitting store shelves in Japan. Until then there are some interesting rumors floating around concerning the magazine. According to the rumors Famitsu will be revealing two big surprises from Nintendo. The first is an attachment for the 3DS that will provide a second joystiq/D-pad. The second is Monster Hunter 3G for the 3DS. We will be confirming this news as soon as we can.

I still can not 100% confirm every little piece of information below, I do not have the magazine in-front of me. All this information was said to come from the magazine, so I see no reason  for it not to be true.

  • Monster Hunter 3G is an enhanced port of Monster Hunter Tri
  • 3G due out this year in Japan
  • will feature 12 weapon types and allow for the underwater fighting seen in the Wii original
  • local online confirmed, no details of online.
  • 3DS attachment also features an R2 button on the top (confirmed from scan)
  • slide pad itself is said to look identical to the system’s current slide pad
  • New 3DS with attachment built on will release early next year, with new name.

More information

  • The cradle adds about a centimeter to the left, an inch to the right and an addition inch of thickness to the bottom of the unit.

Rumors: Seems like even with the announcements there is still speculation from the picture.

  • The cradle could be a battery pack or have a container for the battery.
  • The cradle also has wireless functions, possibly replacing those on the 3DS.

Nintendo should be making an official statement sometime tomorrow.
