EA seems to believe in the Wii’s and DS’s potential. They pledged more support for all their titles today, one of which being Spore for the DS. This is really big news because of the implications Spore could have on DS online play. Here’s a quote from EA on Wii’s success so far:

“With regards to the Wii platform, at least initially, it seems like it’s expanding the overall market and expanding the demographic of users and people that purchase software, so we think that’s a good thing. We’ll have to see if that’s sustainable over time, but certainly [Nintendo’s] got off to a very encouraging start.” – EA chairman and CEO Larry Probst

This is very encouraging. I’m not sure how well the DS will be able to handle Spore, but hopefully EA implements a good engine to do it. We already know the DS is capable of great 3D graphics, so we’ll see how well that carries over to Spore. If the Wii continues to prove strong in the long run, we could see Spore making its way to the Wii.
