Here’s something interesting to watch over the weekend. The speedrun world record for Super Mario 64 has been broken by a Japanese player named Nero.

The story behind this record is that speedrunner Nero and fellow speedrunner puncayshun – who held the previous world record – embarked on a race through Super Mario 64. And Nero promptly broke said record.

The new time comes in at one hour, 42 minutes and 15 seconds, just 17 seconds ahead of the previous record. The kicker is that this includes two saves and quits, which adds to the overall time.
