Some good news for Nintendo’s struggling Wii U – the latest sales data from Famitsu reports that the Wii U outsold the PS4 for the first time ever in Japan, by about 1,471 units.

This feat was achieved despite the lack of notable software on release for the Wii U, whilst the PS4 had Infamous: Second Son released.

The Wii U has been selling just less than Sony’s consoles for the last few weeks and hopefully this week’s data indicates a trend for Nintendo’s home console. With Mario Kart 8 only days away, it will be interesting to see next week’s numbers.
