Later this week, Thursday the 13th to be exact, Nintendo is holding an event in New York City.  Reggie Fils-Aime is hosting this event that I suspect will probably take place at the Nintendo World Store.  Many Nintendo fans and other gamers are hoping that this is the event where everyone will learn not only the price and release date for Nintendo’s new console, the Wii U, but might also learn other details about the Wii U.

There have been many lingering questions about the Wii U since E3 this year, aside from the obvious ones regarding price and date.  The console has been seen in not only white but in a very sleek black. There have been rumors that there are a ton of unannounced games being developed for Nintendo’s new console.  Ever since the Wii U’s reveal many gamers, websites and publications have been speculating what the actual console specifications are for Nintendo’s new gaming machine.  Could this event be the time and place that Nintendo opens the flood gates and lets loose all of this information that people have been hungering for?  It is very possible that the moment is almost upon us.

What are we to expect from this event?  I expect to hear about information regarding pricing and release date.  It is also possible that we could hear about bundles that will be available at launch and possibly the availability of the Wii U in black.  We may hear more specific information regarding some of the games Nintendo is working on.  As a matter of fact, just this week new information was leaked about Nintendo Land via some Game Informer scans.  It may be possible that Nintendo will outline a complete run down of the Wii U’s specifications.  I imagine that there are quite a few game developers that were instructed to keep quiet about the details regarding the games that they are working on until they get Nintendo’s go ahead, so I can only imagine what other news might come out after this Thursday.

We could discuss and speculate on what Nintendo is up to this next week but no one will truly know Nintendo’s intentions until Thursday.  Nintendo has been utilizing many different channels to get their news and announcements to the masses.  So if you would like to see Nintendo’s event for yourself, then I am sure they will be announcing later this week that you can catch their presentation via Facebook, YouTube or Nintendo Direct.  Nintendo has not yet revealed how they will be broadcasting their event but we will be sure to let you know how you can view the event as soon as Nintendo makes an announcement.  Pure Nintendo will be paying close attention during Nintendo’s event on Thursday and posting on the website to cover all of the news and announcements that come out this week.  Until then, check out the invitation below that was recently sent to out to media outlets regarding the event.  Please stay tuned during the week for more news regarding the Wii U!
