GameStop may take pre-orders on New Nintendo 3DS soon
As of late, the New Nintendo 3DS has created a massive amount of buzz via the Internet. While some speak of possible release dates and prices ranges, others speak of system bundles and faceplates. According to a reliable source – A District Manager with GameStop – an announcement regarding the release date and pre-order options will soon be made, possibly even this week.
Have an older model of the Nintendo 3DS? GameStop will offer bonus credit to those who choose to participate in a hardware upgrade, which means to increase the amount of credit offered to the customer. Unfortunately, no further details were given.
Pure Nintendo reported earlier today in regards to a possible sales price for the New Nintendo 3DS. That article can be found here.

Honestly, I’m a little underwhelmed with the NEW 3DS. The only real upgrade to me is the enhanced 3D viewing as I do play mostly in 3D. (honest, check my Club Nintendo surveys). I’m perfectly happy Monster Hunting with the Circle Pad Pro XL, and I’m not exactly thrilled about having to buy a Micro SD to replace my 32 GB SD card. The face plates intrigue me, but I’m all about the XL so again, no dice. Currently I’m sporting a Link Between Worlds XL and a Pikachu XL, so I won’t be trading either of those in to upgrade to a vanilla NEW 3DS XL.
It all boils down to games. Show me a game on this hardware refresh that I need a NEW 3DS to play and I’m sold. If not, I may be taking a pass on this one. If Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate ends up shipping to the US without CPP compatibility, that’d do it, but that would be downright dirty of Capcom to do, since 3 Ultimate is already compatible and everything I’ve read seems to indicate that the Japanese version is compatible.

Depends .. i have a Limited edition Pikachu 3ds XL and is said to be rare then most…. I’d want a worthy trade in deal to even go to a newer one .. I am sure I won’t get enough enough trade offer for my Pikachu to get the Newest one.. even if it meant having the newest games not everyone is rich and with the Holidays just past.. this would be the dumbest move on there part cause everyone is still broke or recovering from the Holidays … Sigh until I see what a limited edition Pikachu 3ds XL will give me towards a “New” XL I won’t be jumping ..

Anyways my last comment I was asking didn’t they say that you needed the N3DS to play MHU4? And am I the only one who likes the 2DS? How about a new one of those 😃

Thus far, the only game I have heard of that will require NEW 3DS to play is Xeno. It is true that the early reveal of the NEW 3DS showed MH4U running on it, but it was intended to show off the C stick. Every online review/blog that I have read has indicated that the Japanese version is fully playable on any 3DS. Here’s one example.

For the amount of time I spend playing Monster Hunter (approaching 900 hours for MH3U) I prefer a second, legitimate analog pad. While the NEW 3DS “nub” is handy to have built in, it seems like more of a “good enough” solution for the sake of convenience.

That’s the game I was thinking about Xeno my mistake. Thanks for clearing that up Haku.
