Earlier today we shared news on a Nikkei report that indicated Nintendo was halting Wii U production during 2016. Nintendo has since responded to this report by denying any such plans
A Nintendo spokesperson dismissed the report, suggesting that it was not a Nintendo announcement and they will continue to produce Wii U systems for the foreseeable future:
From the next quarter and thereafter as well, production (of the Wii U) is scheduled to continue.
We’re not sure what to believe, since Nintendo would be likely to deny rumors prior to an official announcement. While we’re all excited about the NX, this type of news could be damaging to any success the Wii U might have had this year.
