Another week dawns and it’s time to reveal what we can expect on the European eShop from this Thursday. It’s quite a big week, with Kirby’s latest platformer, a huge update for Fire Emblem, some fantastic Pokémon Virtual Console releases, plus plenty of interesting indie releases and discounts – there’s literally something for everyone this week.

Wii U eShop

  • B3 Game Expo for Bees (Createasaurus, €7.99 / £7.99) – this first-person shooter was made exclusively for the Wii U, and sets itself apart by being a parody of the annual E3 conference. This timely release promises to make good use of the GamePad, while you play the role of a security bee protecting the secrets of the B3 Expo.

Wii U Retail Downloads

  • Terraria (505 Games, €19.99 / £17.99) – Previously released on the 3DS, this Wii U version of the 2D action-adventure sandbox game brings bigger environments, with online multiplayer and touch screen support.
  • The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 (Nordic Games, €19.99 / £17.99) – this point-and-click adventure game sees four protagonists – a gnome, an elf, an alien and a human – set out to stop a magical force that transforms beasts into puppies. There may be some humor injected into this quest, which has been well-received on other platforms. Available from 7th June.

Wii U Virtual Console

  • Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia (Nintendo, €6.99 / £6.29) – this 2008 DS game is a prequel to the original Ranger title for the DS, and serves as an RPG spin-off series where you use the stylus to befriend and battle Pokémon, set in the Fiore region.
  • Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs (Nintendo, €6.99 / £6.29) – this is the third entry in the Ranger series, and originally came to the DS in 2010, adding a second quest and Legendary Pokémon into the formula.

3DS Retail Download

  • Kirby: Planet Robobot (Nintendo, €39.99 / £34.99) – Kirby’s latest outing sees the pink puff in another cheerful, colorful platformer, with a new robot suit to influence a mechanical theme that introduces some smart level design and enjoyable twists. With an excellent story mode and multiple unlockables, we were big fans in our Kirby: Planet Robotot review. Available from 10th June, eShop or official website purchases before 7th July include the “Kirby: Planet Robobot: Robobot Armour” 3DS HOME Theme.

New Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console

  • Kirby’s Dream Course (Nintendo, €7.99 / £7.19 ) – originally released in 1994 in Japan and 1995 in Europe and the US, this timely re-release is a golf game featuring everyone’s favorite pink puff, with Kirby playing the role of the golf ball, naturally. He can take out enemies and absorb abilities along the way.

3DS DLC

  • Fire Emblem Fates: Revelation (Nintendo, €19.99 / £17.99) – the third path of the latest Fire Emblem installment, this adds the final pathway your character can choose, with a unique campaign and final story outcome for this deep, character-driven, tactical game. This time, your character is unable to decide which team to side with – the Nohrs or the Hoshidas. It’s recommended playing the first two campaigns before embarking on Revelation – Birthright and Conquest – but all three offer variations on the story’s outcome, the types of battles encountered and the characters met along the way. We were big fans of this game upon US release, scoring it a perfect 10/10 in our Fire Emblem: Fates review.
  • Fire Emblem Fates: Map 6 – Royal Royale (Nintendo, €2.49 / £2.29 or part of Map Pack 1) – Never mind the war between Hoshido and Nohr: who will win the battle to determine the single strongest sovereign?
