A Pokémon Direct has been announced for Wednesday February 27 at 6am PST via the official Pokémon Twitter account.

While juicy details are inevitably kept under wraps until the Direct is launched,a new core series has been previously mooted for the Nintendo Switch later this year. Because of this, the appetite for this particular Direct feels strong, especially on the back of the recent Nintendo Direct, when exciting titles such as Super Mario Maker 2 and Zelda: Link’s Awakening were announced.

The Direct comes specifically on Pokémon Day, which celebrates the release of the very first Pokémon games in Japan.

What better to get us excited ahead of a year which is promising a new core series Pokémon game for Nintendo Switch, than a dedicated Direct specifically for the franchise?
