This is an interesting little rumor to end 2012. According to a GameFaqs forum member, who claims to have inside sources, Monster Games is in the middle of working on a Diddy Kong Racing game that is set to come to the Wii U sometime next  year.

Because of legal issues with Rare and Microsoft owning some of the rights, Nintendo is having issues securing some of the characters from the original games: Tip Tup, Bumper, Timber, Banjo and Conker.

The game is said to feature both online and Mii support.
