Tons Of Brawl Info

By  •  January 13, 2008

These are taken from inpressions from the World Hobby fair. Thanks for Brawl central for gathering all the info.

  • Link tried to FS an opponent who had a Starman and it failed. One time during Kirby’s FS, Starmen were launched from the pot. The enemies used the Starmen and ended up KO’ing Kirby.
  • Waddle Dees are better than turnips in terms of knockback and damage. Dedede’s Suction spits out fast, but not very far and has low damage.
  • Samus cannot missle cancel. Peach can float cancel.
  • More reports of Dedede being very slow with fast atacks, but a conflicting report of his Waddle Dees being useful and spammable.

    Shiek Not Confirmed!!

    By  •  January 12, 2008

We posted, ok I posted, yesterday about a Japanese magazine called CoroCoro, announcing Shiek in Brawl. I was a little hasty to jump on it, and it turns out the translation was wrong. Here’s really what the info was:

    1. (mario) MarioFS: (mario fainaru) mario final
Description: A fireball so huge that it swallows up the entire screen. Difficult to avoid.
Point: It shoots from the left to the right side of the screen so it engulfs everyone.

    Neutral: (faia booru) fire ball
Up: (suupaa jyanpu panchi) super jump punch
    Side: (suupaa manto) super cape
    Down: (ponpu) pump

    2. (kaabi) Kirby

    FS: (cokku) cook
Description: An attack that dumps all your opponents in a pressure cooker. When the stew is ready everyone comes flying out. Collect your KO’s.
Point: Items also come flying out of the pot. Dig in!

    Neutral: (suikomu) inhale
    Up: (fainnaru katta) final cutter
    Side: (hanmaa) hammer
    Down: (sutoon) stone

    3. (pikachuu) Pikachu

    FS: (borutekkaa) volt tackle
Description: Pikachu becomes a large ball of light. Go crash in to your enemies. It is possible to freely control the movement of the ball for a limited time.
Point: Be careful not to fall off the stage when then the effect wears off.

    Neutral: (dengeki) lightning attack
    Up: (denkou sekka) greased lightning
    Side: (roketto zutsuki) rocket charge
    Down: (kaminari) thunder

    4. (donkii kongu) Donkey Kong

FS: (taru kongo biito) barrel congo beat
Description: The barrel congo’s destructive sound can deliver damage to all your opponents.
Point: Match the button pushing to the music and the power goes up.

    Neutral: (jyaianto punchi) giant punch
    Up: (supiningu kongu) spinning kong
Side: (donkii heddo batto) donkey head butt

    IGN Wiik In Review Summary

    By  •  January 11, 2008

    SUMMARY

    – Matt’s new beard was grown because he likes to grow a beard when he puts on weight during christmas to confirm his weight gain. Once he loses the weight, his beard will be lost as well.

    Game of the Year
    – Winner was Super Mario Galaxy.
    – This was the first time that the Nintendo editors did not take part in the discussion – they only submitted their votes. However, they did play all of the contenders.
    – Craig and Matt voted for Galaxy, but Bozon voted for Call of Duty 4 because he loves multiplayer FPS.
    – Call of Duty 4, Bioshock and Mass Effect were all deserving of winning, though Mass Effect less so due to its technical issues.
    – Such an incredible year of gaming that the decision was very hard to make compared to previous years – at least 5 games would have automatically been 2006 GOTY.
    – Surprised that Bioshock didn’t win any of the major awards.

    CES
    – Matt’s one of IGN’s tech-nuts.
    – Looked around the Apple and MAC areas as well as TV and projectors.
    – There would be lots of worthless Wii accessories – there was a Cooking Mama accessory which changed the controller into a fork, a Zelda sword and shield that blocked the IR, and a Trauma Centre scapel add-on.
    – Found it pretty boring – gets worse and worse everywhere, and always bring back old products rather than E3 which bring in new ones.
