With IGN closing shop for the week thanks to Thanksgiving. IGN went ahead and put together their Wiikly review. With only a half week there still a lot of things talked about.
Summary
Galaxy sales
– 500k first week in the USA – Matt thinks it’s pretty phenomenal – biggest opening of any Wii game to date and shows people are still interested in traditional games on Wii.
– A LOT of games don’t get 500k in their entire worldwide lifespan.
– In local retailers Matt keeps seeing lots of people buying Galaxy, so he would be shocked if it didn’t have long legs through the holiday season.
– Matt and Mark are both baffled by the lukewarm reception of Galaxy by Japan. Matt attributes the low sales to a change in the market – games that performed well in the past are not doing as well these days, while games like Wii Sports and Wii Play are the main focusses in the market. There is a noticeable momentum shift.
– Matt thinks it is a travesty, along with the sales of Twilight Princess.
By Patrick Ross Remember those commercials that said, “Sega does what Nintendon’t”? Well, it turned out to be true. Sega ended up almost shutting down, left the hardware market entirely …

10. “Super Mario Sunshine” (GC)- Mario’s squeaky clean appearance on the Gamecube. Was it me, or was all the fun sucked out of a game where you go around cleaning things. I understand that that wasn’t the only thing you do in the game, but, I mean, come on. This game barely made it on the list.
I’m well aware that I could be less than twenty four hours away from a drastic overhaul of this list, once “Super Mario Galaxy” makes its way into my hands, but right now, this is where the list stands. I have my fingers crossed that “Galaxy” will be able to change my mind about Mario in 3-D, but I’m still a bit skeptical. Only time will tell.
9. “Mario Bros.” (Arcade) – wait… Mario has a brother? Luigi, the neglected younger sibling makes his first appearance in one of the greatest displays of sibling rivalry in the history of video games. Which brother could stomp more koopas, and collect more coins? From one younger sibling to another… my money was always on Luigi.
I am posting more then just video game details because the other deals are pretty good as well.

Free Lesson Plans Allow Students to ‘Master the Science … Master the Game’
REDMOND, Wash., Nov. 7, 2007 – A new in-school program uses basic characters and themes from Nintendo’s popular Pokémon® Diamond and Pokémon® Pearl video games for Nintendo DS™ to teach elementary and middle school students about science. Nintendo of America, Inc., The National Institute of Aerospace (NIA) and Nortel LearniT, have teamed up to make it fun for students to learn the sciences using imagery they already know and love.
Now through December, a variety of printable lesson plans and classroom activities developed by NIA are available to students and teachers at www.masterthescience.org. For instance, a lesson plan might teach elementary school students how to tell time using a sundial, or middle school students about how the universe is expanding. An activity component is also built in, where teacher and student questions can be submitted and answered by science experts.
