Ubisoft has announced a new mode for cross-over title, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle.

The tactical game, in which Mario unexpectedly encounters the chaotic Rabbids as they join forces to restore the Mushroom Kingdom, now comes with a new way to play. Versus Mode is a local two-player option, as two players use their tactical skills to play against each other on the same screen. You can share a pair of Joy-Con controllers or use Pro Controllers to fight it out on unique and evolving battlefields.

The best news? The mode is available for all players as part of a free update. And, it’s available tomorrow, December 8.

Other features of Versus Mode include:

  • Pick from three heroes among the eight from the main game, each with three unique pre-sets with specific statistics and skills to create their own strategy.
  • Surprising and random bonus items are dispatched on the battlefields, conferring additional actions, double damage or other advantages to the player who achieves to get them.
  • Every battle can be customized with various settings, from adding a timer or limiting the number of turns of the battle, to removing all the items for a pure tactical experience.
