With IGN closing shop for the week thanks to Thanksgiving. IGN went ahead and put together their Wiikly review. With only a half week there still a lot of things talked about.
Summary
Galaxy sales
– 500k first week in the USA – Matt thinks it’s pretty phenomenal – biggest opening of any Wii game to date and shows people are still interested in traditional games on Wii.
– A LOT of games don’t get 500k in their entire worldwide lifespan.
– In local retailers Matt keeps seeing lots of people buying Galaxy, so he would be shocked if it didn’t have long legs through the holiday season.
– Matt and Mark are both baffled by the lukewarm reception of Galaxy by Japan. Matt attributes the low sales to a change in the market – games that performed well in the past are not doing as well these days, while games like Wii Sports and Wii Play are the main focusses in the market. There is a noticeable momentum shift.
– Matt thinks it is a travesty, along with the sales of Twilight Princess.
GI: How do you feel the Super Smash Bros. Brawl delay will affect sales of the Wii this holiday season?Harrison: I honestly don’t think it’s going to affect us …

o Current operating income[2] up €43 million to a positive €9 million.
o Net income totals €31 million.
Yves Guillemot, CEO of Ubisoft, stated: “Ubisoft’s excellent sales performance during the first half of fiscal 2007-08 has considerably boosted our earnings figures for the period. In addition, the early indications for our Christmas games launches have been positive, especially for Assassin’s Creedtm, whose sell-through sales have already topped the record level of 1 million units. These very strong trends further underpin our confidence that we will achieve our objectives for the current year and add further impetus for fiscal 2008-09, which we expect to be a another year of robust growth for the Group.”

Man one year, it only seems like yesterday. As I anounced on Friday, we will be posting peoples Wii experiences through out the day, Waiting in line for the Wii, the first time they got their Wii, or their favorite Wii experience. If you haven’t sent yours in yet, there is still time. You can email them to me anytime today at: jahiggin30120@gmail.com, and I will post them up. It doesn’t have to be to long, paragraph or two will be fine. If you want to wright a whole page like I did, go ahead, thats fine as well.
I am going to post someones Wii experience story now, and that someones is going to be me. Its kinda long, actually its really long. I will be impressed if you read the whole thing. If you do, you will probably be able to tell at which point I started to get tired. I enjoyed writing it, and thats all that count. Hit the jump to check out my story:
Victorious Boxers Revolution
– Gave the game 4.5 – was actually going to be lower, but decided against it because of the ability to use a classic controller.
– Much worse than Wii Sports boxing, which wasn’t all that great to start off with.
– Poor motion recognition.
– Camera issues, super buggy – “total pain in the ass.”
Smartypants
– Gave the game 7.0
– $49 which should be $29 at most – the content in the game is far too slim for the price they charge for it.
– It’s a fun game – “really good party game that anyone can play.” Good trivia game.
Avatar
– Gave the game 6.2
– Only decent – very straightforward game.
– Matt’s a fan of the animated series but disappointed with the games.
