Cambridge, Mass. – Nov. 13, 2009 – Harmonix and MTV Games today announced that a five pack of tracks from AFI and a single from The Bangles will be added next week to the Rock Band Music Store of downloadable content for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation® 3 computer entertainment system and Wii™. Tracks from Dead Kennedys and Sleater-Kinney will be available for download next week for Rock Band Unplugged on PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system.

Rock Band is delivering more tracks from punk outfit AFI with a five pack of songs to join “Girl’s Not Grey” and “Miss Murder,” which are already available on the Rock Band platform. “AFI Pack 01” features three songs from the group’s eighth studio album, Crash Love, released Sept. 29, including “Beautiful Thieves,” “End Transmission” and “Medicate;” as well as “Love Like Winter,” from Decemberunderground, and “The Leaving Song, Pt II,” from Sing the Sorrow.

Additionally, “All You Need Is Love,” the first downloadable track available for the game, has shown similar success with more than 100,000 downloads to date on XboxLIVE® online entertainment network and all Apple Corps Ltd., MTV Games, Harmonix and Microsoft proceeds benefiting Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF).

This is some pretty big news…if true. Rumor has it that Nintendo is hard at work on the next-generation DS system, and that it will be unveiled late 2010 and include Nvidia’s latest Tegra graphics chip. After waiting 8 years, Nintendo/Metroid fans finally received a new console Metroid in the form of Metroid Prime (Metroid Fusion also came out at this time for GBA). The game received many stellar reviews and is still ranked in the Top 10 games of all time to this day. Fast forward to 2004, and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes released as a direct sequel to Metroid Prime. The game didn’t score as high as Metroid Prime, but fans, including myself, still hold it in high regard. Then in 2007, Retro Studios released the final chapter in the Metroid Prime trilogy which now took full use of the Wii’s motion control capabilities.
And just a couple weeks ago, Nintendo/Retro Studios packed all three of these games into a one-disc Collector’s Edition for long time fans, as well as newcomers to the series. Rather than talk about each game separately (since all three are well documented as great games), I’ll talk about the merits and additions we see in Metroid Prime Trilogy.

Paris-based developer White Birds has announced that its latest project for the Wii™ console is being built on Qube Software’s ‘Q’ platform.
The title, called Crazy Garage, is a cartoon style ‘party game’, inspired by TV shows like ‘Pimp My Ride,’ and features a number of mini games.
White Birds started using Q in December and the title, which is now at Beta stage, will be completed in the next few weeks.
The deal makes White Birds the first studio in France to adopt Q.
“Among the features that led us to choose Q were the interface-driven philosophy (QCOM), the ease of use of QStudio for artists and the quality of the Maya exporter,” said White Birds’ Lead Developer, Damien Kochanek. “We appreciated the modularity it offered, which was perfect for a party game like ours.”
