Hotel Dusk: Room 215 Trailer

Posted by justin On December 29, 2006

This is a not so new trailer for Hotel Dusk: Room 215. It shows off some cool cutscenes and a little gameplay. I’ve been getting more and more interested in this title. Look for this one towards the end of January 2007. Have a great weekend!

Canadian’s Love Their Wii

Posted by justin On December 28, 2006

Now that Christmas has passed the number crunchers are working furiously to find out who is winning the console war. The first estimates are placing the Wii at two to three times ahead of the PS3. This could be explained by Nintendo simply having more Wii’s available for purchase than PS3’s, however, Paul Webber (an EB Games manager in Toronto, CA) said that it would take a whole day to sell out of PS3’s where the Wii would be sold out in 20 minutes after opening. People would be lined up waiting for the store to open. There are even reports of people trying to trade their PS3’s or 360’s for Wii’s on Craigslist (a classifieds website). Here’s my personal favorite quote from the article.

“Sebastian Dimartino, 29, from Whitby, offered up his Xbox 360, and several add-ons and games for trade. His package was worth about $700, in exchange for the $259 Wii. One problem, he couldn’t find any takers.

“I had my Xbox for a year and I just never got into it,” he said. But when he and his wife went shopping at the mall, they ran across the Wii. She fell in love with it. “She told me to dump that Xbox and get one.”

Dimartino managed to sell his Xbox for $500. With that money he bought a Wii and a game on Craigslist for a steal – $350.”

Well two things can be learned from this article. First its great to see the Wii doing so well up in Canada, and second if your one of those looking for one of those (insert personal opinion here) PS3’s maybe you should travel north of the border. ;)

Mission in Snowdrift Land

Posted by justin On December 27, 2006

I’m a couple days late but I finally completed mission in snowdriftland (www.mission-in-snowdriftland.com). It was a fun little platformer done in flash that even ran well on my mac in safari. Nothing about it was too difficult, especially for those of us that grew up playing super mario bros. ;) The last few levels were a bit more complicated but it was no match for precise timing and well aimed jumps. There were many things to find in the levels as you progess and a nice little treat if you can manage to get all 576 snowflakes! Several extra hearts were hidden throughout many of the levels. If your looking for some time to kill while siblings and/or other family are occupying your Wii (this describes my entire christmas) i suggest you step up to the plate and give it a shot and let us know how you did!

Happy Holidays and I hope you all got the games that were on your lists!

EDIT: As of January 20, 2007, mission-in-snowdriftland.com is no longer hosting the game. It does say that they “hope to see us soon”. So maybe they’re going to develop some more flash-based games with Nintendo.

Look at the Wii Stars

Apparently the new Forecast Channel has actual constellations in the background. Constellations like the Big Dipper (Ursa Major) and Orion can be plainly seen in the background when zoomed all the way out. It’s also interesting to note that the constellations appear to be in their right positions above the earth for this time of year.

Very fascinating. Way to go above and beyond Nintendo :D
